At Walbar Peabody, we take a balanced approach to engineering—one that values proven technology and techniques as well as innovation and constant learning and improvement. This is particularly evident in our engineering team’s professional development initiatives.
We have old-school processes and equipment/machinery when it comes to aircraft hot section engine components, and we’ve been experts in these repair processes for decades. Many of our team members have remained for decades, too, while we’re always welcoming new talent to bring in new perspectives.
See how we do it and how this benefits clients below.
Ongoing Education & Process Improvement
At Walbar Peabody, our team is always eager to learn more, so we’re grateful to have so many avenues for pursuing ongoing education.
Our parent company, RTX Corporation, promotes continuous improvement events and problem-solving engagements through the RTX CORE (Customer-Oriented Results and Excellence) program. Many of our employees have received CORE certifications, including CORE Apprentice and CORE Champion levels. These certifications are awarded to individuals who participate in and lead projects, events, and actions using CORE methods and tools.
Additionally, certain engineering team members have completed Internal Auditor training per AS9100 and AS9110 to aid the quality team in completing internal audits throughout the year.
Walbar Peabody’s upper management also provides resources for continued learning and encourages us to use the Employee Scholar Program (ESP). This allows for continuous learning for employees that is completely paid for by RTX, including:
- Nadcap® training from the Performance Review Institute (PRI), which unites technical experts from both Industry and Government to establish “a standardized approach to quality assurance and a reduction in redundant auditing throughout the aerospace industry.”
- ASME training, which includes a wide variety of courses for engineers and technical professionals.
- Collins Aerospace education from the company’s own School of Mechanical Engineering for Manufacturing, as well as many others for different technical disciplines.
- The possibility of receiving another degree, from a certificate program to a doctorate!
This focus on continued education motivates team members in every department by offering them new challenges and opportunities, simultaneously empowering them to deliver optimal results and service to our customers.
Keeping Up with the Industry
Walbar Peabody is aware that keeping up with the aerospace and maintenance repair overhaul (MRO) industry and gaining new work is imperative for the success of the business. That’s why we prioritize professional development and process improvement.
